Running through the fog, early morning dew wetting their shoes, and trying hard to keep up with their competitors. Brahma Cross-Country runners push hard to finish out their regular season at their district meet.
Brahma Cross-Country will compete at the district meet in Yoakum this Monday, Oct. 6. Varsity competes at 9:00 a.m. Be sure to show up and cheer them on!
“I wanted to break my PR, and I saw that through by trying to improve every practice,” Junior Cross-Country runner Gabriel Dodson said.
Gabriel has been working hard to improve his times for the district meet, while others are doing the same, and additionally, improving their mindset to race.
“I’m just trying to run faster during practice and have a better mindset, give it my all,” Sophomore Reese Temple said.
While running and being in shape are a significant part of Cross-Country, the mindset required to complete two to three miles must be strong.
“I think that our mindset has really improved, and we come to practice ready to work and ready to improve. I hope to improve on my time and to do better,” Temple said.
Improvement is what all these athletes are looking to do. Whether it be improving on their running, mindset, or times, they take all they can get and are grateful for every inch of progress they make.
“I’m faster, definitely faster than last year… I’ll take any progress I can. At the end of everything, I plan to get my three-mile time down to 20 minutes at least,” Sophomore Kemper Barrera said.
