National Hero Day on Oct. 8 honors the real-life heroes who inspire others to be the best versions of themselves. It’s a day to recognize and thank those who go above and beyond to care for those in need.
Senior Peyton Pasak said her mom is the person who inspires her most.
“My hero is my mom, because she is my role model not only in my personal life but also in my spiritual and future goals,” senior Peyton Pasak said.
For senior Addison Bujnoch, her mom’s love and strength make her a true hero.
“My mom is my hero because she does absolutely everything for me, no matter how big or small. She’s the one who holds me together when life feels too heavy and wipes the tears from my cheeks when I can’t stop crying. Her love is steady, her strength never fades, and somehow she always knows exactly what I need, even when I don’t say a word. She’s my safe place, my biggest supporter, and the heart that keeps me going,” senior Addison Bujnoch said.
Parents often play an essential role in shaping who we are. They give us life, help us grow, and support us through every step. But heroes can come in many forms beyond our parents.
“My hero is my dad because he is always there for me. Every time I need advice or just need to talk to someone I run to him,” Payton Mathison said.
For Tayler Hagan, her hero is someone who brings happiness and support to her family.
“My mom’s boyfriend, he is always helping me out and giving me good advice for life. He makes my mom and when she makes them happy I’m happy,” Tayler Hagan said.
Some heroes may never be recognized publicly, but their impact lasts a lifetime. A hero can be someone who listens when no one else does, encourages us to keep going, or helps us see the good in ourselves when we can’t. Not all heroes wear capes, sometimes, they’re simply the people who have stood by us through it all.
