Dear anonymous,
High school can be a challenging environment for making friends or maintaining friendships. You can ask yourself if she has been doing this before y’all stopped talking, or if this is a constant recurrence. You should set boundaries, and when she’s around, try to talk as little as possible and don’t share things you don’t want to get out.
If this continues to occur even after talking about it with her and your best friend, then you need to distance yourself from the girl and your friend. High school is already hard enough on its own, but keeping that negativity will keep bringing you down. You could also try and talk to your best friend about the situation, something you could say is “I know you’re friends with [name] and I respect that. I just want you to know that I’ve been feeling uncomfortable lately with how she has been treating me. I’m not asking you to take sides, I just want you to know how I feel.”
If your best friend doesn’t listen to your feelings and she lets her talk about you, then you need to distance yourself from her, too. I hope everything works out for you in the end!
