The spotlight gleams on the faces of the marching band as they stand on the 50-yard line. The band is kicking off the start of marching season strong with their marching show, Bionic. With it being the start of an amazing season, Band Director Henry Deritner is confident that the band will see significant improvement this year.
“We are doing harder material this year, which will let them be able to play more interesting literature, which should help in placements in ops contests,” Dreitner said.
Along with the band director, drum major Logan Moore is also confident that they will see improvement this year.
“We will improve significantly. I don’t know what way we will improve, but we will improve.” Moore said.
Last year was an amazing year for the Brahma Band, and Dreitner had very high expectations for the band this year.
“Last year was very rewarding, one of the best that the band has seen in 30 years. The end goal would be area finals. Or going past the area qualifications and having more students do better in regional bands.” Dreitner said
This year, the band is significantly smaller than it was last year, which should make it harder for the band to be loud from the field, and it would be harder to have visual effects, but Mr. Dreitner has a solution.
“We have strategically placed the band so that they are more compact and will be able to sound louder, and they move around to fulfill the visual effects better,” Dreitner said
Come support the band at any Hallettsville High School football game and on October 4th at the Bastrop Marching Contest!
