The spirit of the Brahmas is alive and loud as the cheer team gears up for another exciting year. With football battling it out again on Friday, Sept 5, the cheerleaders are preparing to fire up the crowd—and at the same time, they’re already looking ahead to their UIL competition in January.
Freshman Summer Hogan is thrilled to be on the high school cheer team for her first time.
“Yes, I’m very excited because I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and I’ve heard it’s a lot of fun,” Hogan said.
Senior Haven Drozd has a bittersweet feeling about this being her last year cheering among all the other athletes she has been cheering with her whole life.
“I’m not necessarily upset about it, I mean, it’s definitely sad that it’s my last year, but I’m also really excited to start my future after high school,” Drozd said.
Drozd feels they can be an outstanding team this year, even though they lost powerful seniors last year.
“Even though we lost a bunch of good athletes last year, we did gain a lot of new kids that definitely have the potential to get us where we want to be this year,” Drozd said.
Hogan is very thrilled to he able to participate in UIL this year since she couldn’t in junior high.
“Yes, I’m very excited because I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and I’ve heard it’s a lot of fun,” Hogan said.
If you don’t have plans on Friday night, Sept 5 at 7:30 p.m., come out to support your Brahma cheerleaders and the Brahma football team as they battle against the Apaches!
