This year’s Homecoming dance was nothing short of magical and eventful. Held in the beautifully decorated cafetorium, the dance embodied the theme “The Great Gatsby.” Tables, picture backdrops and more set the mood for an unforgettable night.
Dressed in their finest attire, friends posed for photos in front of the glittering backdrop before hitting the dance floor. The DJ wasted no time, kicking off the night with a mix of current hits and throwback favorites that had everyone dancing and singing.
“I would say we had a great outcome, people seemed to enjoy the dance and seemed to have had plenty of fun,” Student Council President Elle Maes said.
Throughout the night, the cafeteria was filled with laughter, singing, and non-stop dancing from 200 students! Although the floor was never empty, we are already looking into expanding the attendance list for next year’s dance.
“We had just over 200 people show up. With how well it went, we are definitely looking at expanding the numbers for next year,” Mrs. Smajstrla said.
Much preparation went into this dance to make it one we won’t forget. A special thanks goes to Mrs. Smajstrla for being in charge of Homecoming festivities and putting everything into action.
According to Mrs. Smajstrla, the Student Council decided on the theme a few months ago and started working on tickets, signage and decoration. The dance took a lot of work but she thinks STUCO did a great job with it!
As the night came to an end, it was clear that the 2024 Homecoming dance was one for the books! For many, it was a much needed celebration after a busy week of spirit days, pep rallies, football games, volleyball, and cross-country events.
“My favorite part of the dance was gathering together with friends, dancing and watching everyone have a good time,” Maes said.
With the final song fading and the lights coming back on, students left with tired feet but content hearts.
