HHS students are counting down the days until the last day of school so that summer can finally begin! Many are looking for the best place to work nearby, whether to save money for college or just to have money.
A few students shared what job they will be having, and Splashway Water Park and Camp Grounds were the most popular and recommended! Others are looking to spend the summer making memories and sleeping in.
Other places of work that some of our HHS students will be this summer are: Curt’s Carpeting and Design Center, Garrett Farms, Kelly Mudd and Walmart.
“Splashway is a great place if you’re just looking to work during the summer, but if you want a year-round job, then I would recommend any kind of food service job,” Junior Kendall Mayer said.
Now, there are pros and cons to all jobs,” Senior Carson Barrera said. “Splashway is good, but then you have to have a plan for when it closes, or you will go broke (from experience).”
Learning to manage your money will be an important factor in making money this summer, so don’t blow it all at once! You could try to put away an amount of money from each paycheck over the break to avoid this predicament.
One student also recommended Walmart, “It was a nice job. Good pay, indoors, nice co-workers, just all around good job to have.”
Warmart provides a contrast of working indoors in the air conditioner, to Splashway’s outdoor conditions, but one plus is that you will get a nice tan!
