Lights! Camera! Action! Get under the spotlight and perform a song of your choice. Gather some friends or family, and perform to win the hearts of the audience. On Oct. 17, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Hallettsville Brahma News Network will host an Open Mic Night at the Hallettsville Methodist church. You pay, show up, and perform; show your singing or instrumental skills and try to win it all.
Senior Peyton Pasak remembers how last year’s Open Mic Night went.
“We had a great turnout,” Pasak said. “We learned a country song.”
This year, HBNN is seeking more participants. Many seniors participated but have now graduated. Senior Payton Mathison expressed her desire for more people.
“We need to advertise more and get more people,” Mathison said. “Underclassmen need to make up for the seniors.”
You can enter by signing up. Email or call Mrs. Opiela at Hallettsville High School at [email protected] or 361-798-2242 Ext 384. Sign up fast, as there are limited slots. It’s three dollars to enter and five dollars to perform. Don’t feel like performing? Come watch and experience what it’s like to be a judge, then vote for your favorite performer to win it all.
Junior Bella DeBord and her partner, Junior Jennesse Kutach, won Open Mic Night in 2024. She plans on competing again with Jennesse.
“It was a lot of fun competing when I was singing with my partner,” DeBord said.
Come out to compete and sing your heart out. If you’re not singing, buy some snacks at the concession stand and enjoy the show!
