The Hallettsville Thundering Herd started up their October season by competing in the Lost Pines Marching Competition in Bastrop on the fourth.
Twenty-five bands were competing overall and our Thundering Herd placed fifteenth, placing above a couple of 4A and even a 6A band. Drum Majors, Kendall Mayer and Logan Moore, gave comments about how the band did and their expectations for upcoming competitions.
“The band definitely achieved our goal for this past competition. We had a goal of being in the top 20 and ended in 15th place, only 5 away from finals. We also beat out a 6A school and a few 5A schools,”
Mayer said.
The band was extremely proud of their placement and expects to place higher at their next competition in Giddings this upcoming Saturday.
“I do expect the band to achieve a higher placement at their next competition since we have improved since then,” Moore said.
“I feel very confident about the upcoming competition in Giddings. With this competition only having 2A, 3A, and 4A schools, we are expecting to make finals,” Mayer said.
The Thundering Herd is working every day to improve their show in anticipation of the UIL competition. They are ready to go the extra mile to prove themselves against their competitors this year and have already made many improvements so far.
