Wednesday, Aug. 28th at 6 p.m. the Hallettsville ISD School Board called a special Board Meeting to discuss and approve school budget matters for the past and upcoming fiscal school year. An Executive Session followed under Texas Government Code Section 551.074.
The items discussed included amendments to the 2023-2024 school year and adoption of the proposed budgets for the 2024-2025 school year; the Board also approved a proposed property tax rate. A public hearing was held on the topic, no one wished to address the Board.
Amendments to the 2023-2024 budget were funded by the school’s Fund Balance and included updates to the Hallettsville ISD’s maintenance and operations, security, transportation and instruction.
The proposed budget for the 2024-2025 school year includes over $90,000 less in expected revenue than the previous year.
The Board approved an increase to local property taxes to help cover the increased expenses from unfunded state mandates taxable value for local property increased by 20.66% between this year and last. The property tax increase is not equivalent to the taxable value increase.
The next Hallettsville ISD School Board meeting will be held on Sep. 9 at 6:00 p.m. at 302 North Ridge St., Hallettsville, TX 77964.
