The Hallettsville Brahma Soccer team has been preparing for the 2025 soccer season since December. They are working on crucial aspects of the game and transitioning the ball upfield through specific ball drills and short-to-intermediate passing. A typical practice starts with stretching, passing drills, shooting drills, and a scrimmage at the end.
According to Coach Bivins, the biggest challenge is “Learning how to design practice plans and cohesion between individuals and teamwork,” especially since this is his first year coaching. This is also a challenge for the team since coaches have changed over the past three years.
Brahmas soccer team member Lucas Barrera stated the biggest challenge for the team is “keeping control of the ball and running offsides.” To overcome this challenge, he said “We have been doing a lot of new drills and tons of conditioning.”
This year, they hope to focus on being the most physical team on the field at any moment. They will also focus on being on defense. Their goal is to make it to the playoffs. Coach Bivins says “I look forward to learning more about soccer and getting to know these players.”
According to Coach Bivins, the team is talented in its skills and abilities. The players are always having fun but also know how to focus to improve. “We have good chemistry and want the best for the team,” Lucas Barrera said.
Brahma’s Soccer roster has 22 players for the 2025 season, an increase from last year. They have had 1 win, 2 losses, and 2 tied games. While the season started a little rough, the team is looking forward to getting wins! Come out and support our Brahma soccer team on February 4th.
