A new restaurant has opened in Hallettsville. The popular burger chain Whataburger added a new location in Hallettsville in the building that was formerly Diane’s Diner. Construction started on Sept. 30th, 2024, and was opened to the public on Jan. 3rd, 2025. On its first day of opening, the line stretched all the way through the parking lot and onto the highway.
There has long been a rumor in Hallettsville about the opening of a Whataburger location. This rumor would appear again almost every year but was only confirmed in September of last year.
Staffing was a major question from the community. Many high school students answered the call, seeing the opening of the new chain to make and save money. Damontaye Dilworth, a senior at Hallettsville High School, works at Whataburger.
“I chose to work there because it being a newer place means a newer environment. At first, I was scared because this would be my first real job. But I soon adapted pretty quickly,” Dilworth said.
Damontaye enjoys working at Whataburger and recommends it to those who wish to enter the fast-food industry.
“Working there for me is a breeze,” Dilworth said. “I love my job it’s quick and easy if you listen and do it at a good pace. I recommend this job for anybody wanting to learn their way around the fast food industry.”
The Whataburger is located at 1603 North Texana Street, Hallettsville, Texas 77964, in the Morton’s location. Both the drive-thru and resteraunt are now open 24/7.
