College decision day is encroaching quickly, and next year, college freshmen will be deciding on their future. On May 1, many colleges expect next year’s freshmen to commit, and students are expected to decide. Choosing which college to attend is a very important decision that can impact the rest of your life. It’s a big part of life, and many students are debating their options and finding the best choice for them.
Many seniors have to carefully consider which college to go to and why the college they pick is best for them.
“I chose to start out at Victoria College because I want to take some of the classes I need for my degree at a cheaper rate than when I transfer to a university,” senior Brayden Miranda said.
Many people are staying in the state for college for reasons such as lower cost or being closer to family.
“Being in Texas really helps me to stay closer to my family, which is really important to me,” senior Wyatt Clanton said.
While there are many benefits to staying in-state for college, some people find that staying in-state has disadvantages. For some people with more specific majors, the colleges in-state don’t cut it.
“As a student pursuing art as a degree, I found that many schools in Texas do not care about that department as much as other majors; there is not a specific art university in Texas,” senior Aidan Vollmar said.
Many seniors are going to college to get a better education, and they are deciding now about which college they are going to and making up their minds.
“College decision is a hard choice, but I’m excited to get to make my choice to go to college,” Clanton said.
