Donald J. Trump took office as the United States’ next president after an election that left him with 312 votes, compared to Harris’ 226. This will be his second term, making him the 25th and 27th president. Trump was inaugurated on January 20, and in the week he has been in office, he has taken off with plans for the future.
President Trump has made clear his plans and goals for his presidency. He hopes to “Make America safe again,” and, “Make America affordable and Energy Dominant again,” along with plans to “Bring back American Values.”
To achieve the goal of keeping America safe, Trump has plans to build a wall at the Mexico border, along Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California to prevent illegal border crossers. He also hopes to end Biden’s catch-and-release programs, meaning anybody who crosses the border illegally will be detained until they get a court hearing. He hopes to permit the death penalty to people who commit heinous crimes against humanity, such as people who kill law enforcement officers and illegal migrants who assault or kill American Citizens.
Trump’s plans also extend to the energy that powers our country. He plans to declare an energy emergency and build critical infrastructure. He also plans to undo Biden’s climate change policies to unleash American energy and has already withdrawn from the Climate Paris Accord.
There are many other plans Trump has for his presidency including changing the names of landmarks. Places such as the Gulf of Mexico will become the “Gulf of America,” and Mount Denali in Alaska will be changed to Mount McKinley. With these name changes President Trump hopes to honor American history and strengthen American values. Another one of his goals is to establish male and female as biological realities and ensure that governments only recognize two genders.
Trump began working to create a future for this country on his first day in office. In the first day alone, he passed 26 executive orders, more than any other president. And in his first full week, he passed roughly 75 orders. These orders are just the start of his plans for his presidency, hoping to create a better future for America.
