Golf season is on the horizon and players have been practicing all year. The Hallettsville Brahmas and Lady Brahma golf teams gear up for a wonderful season. Coach Kade Kahanek expressed his beliefs about this year’s season.
“I expect our golfers to work hard, stay focused on the little things that they can control, show good sportsmanship, and constantly try to improve both their skills and mindset,” Kahanek said. “I look for players who are dedicated, coachable, respectful, and willing to put in effort while keeping a positive attitude on and off the course. It is no secret that golf can be frustrating at times, but it takes discipline to save your round of golf after a bad shot instead of letting it go bad really fast. The most important shot is the next one.”
Darby Phillips reveals her goals for her final years as a golf athlete. Darby has participated in golf all four years of high school and explains her goals in her final year.
“My goals are to not max out on every hole,” Phillips said. “I stuck around bc it’s fun and I get to meet new people.”
Freshman Canyon Zavesky gets ready for his first year of high school golf and says who inspired him to play golf.
“I plan on improving this year by practicing every week,” Zavesky said. “My dad inspired me to play golf at a very young age.”
Another student who played golf for three years is junior Brailey Gohlke. Brailey talks about her plans for improving and lowering her score.
“Lowering my score, I want to go down 20 strokes,” Gohlke said. “Fix my driver so it hits straight and work on my putting.”

Sophomore Mason Grahmann continues playing golf for Hallettsville High School. He talks about his plans for getting better this year.
“I plan on improving my talent this year by practicing more and by playing the courses smarter,” Grahmann said. “I have gotten better since last year so this should not be a problem at all.”
Come out and support our Brahma and Lady Brahma Golf teams in their golf season this spring.
