The start of track season has arrived and our runners are more than ready. After weeks of conditioning and practices, the HHS track team is already showing growth, setting the tone for a new season of building effort, hard work and proving something.
“The expectations for this season are to continue building a competitive and disciplined program. We want our athletes to improve, compete with confidence, and represent our school with pride,” Coach Olbert said. “One of the biggest challenges will be staying healthy and managing fatigue throughout a long season. Track requires both physical and mental toughness, and balancing training, school, and recovery is critical. New athletes have shown great work ethic and potential. I’m most excited about seeing our athletes grow and compete together as a team. It’s always rewarding to watch athletes reach new personal bests, overcome challenges, and see their hard work pay off,” Coach Olbert said.
As the track season begins, the athletes are setting big goals and preparing to compete at their highest level.
“I participated in triple jump, high jump, long jump, the open 100m, the 4×1 and the 4×2.
My goal is to make it to regionals and I plan to achieve this by putting in the work every day and trying my hardest. I’m most excited about just being with the team and being able to grow stronger as a team,” sophomore Lexi Bludau said.
Team members are also focused on making it far this season and growing together. Upperclassmen are setting personal goals as they enter their final season representing HHS.
“I participate in long jump, 200m and 100m. This year, I’m hoping to make it on the relay team and go to state, make it to district with long jump and as the season shows, I would like to improve my times for the 100m and 200m. I’m excited for this new season because I will get the chance to get more medals and have fun while doing it,” senior Savion Adams said.
Senior Alaina Halata has been participating in high jump for all 4 years of high school, working hard to advance in area high jump. She plans to work hard every single day to achieve this goal. Alaina is excited to make new friends and help others to achieve their goals, too.
It takes years of dedication and determination but committing to daily practice and teamwork not only to succeed individually but also to help the team. With hard work and strong team spirit, the HHS track team makes this season one to remember.
