The Hallettsville Brahmas are heading to playoffs after a season filled with hard work, growth and determination. Despite the obstacles, the Brahmas have continued to improve throughout the season and are ready to compete against some of the top teams in the state.
“The biggest challenge is that we lost a big senior class last year, so putting all the pieces together this year has been a challenge; the kids have brought in what we asked them to, and we have been successful throughout the year,” Coach Bridges said. “Making the playoffs any year always feels good. That is the goal each year, and we have been blessed with kids that work hard and love the game. We expect to have a chance against any team in the state and continue to improve throughout the playoffs.”
Despite losing a large senior class from last year’s team, this season was about rebuilding the team and for the players to step into new roles and help the team be successful throughout the season.
Coach Gholke also explained that the younger players have stepped up in many ways this season.
“The biggest challenge has been players competing for positions. The competition has been good though, making players work harder and become better players,” Coach Gholke said. “It’s always a great feeling to make the playoffs. This year is special because we have a younger team and most positions are first-year starters. We always expect to win. If we play as a team, play for each other, we will be successful.”
Along with replacing key players, the team continues building their success and proves that teamwork and determination can take them far this season. With strong leadership, hardworking teammates, and confidence in one another, the Brahmas are ready to face any challenge.
“It feels great that we made it to the playoffs, especially as a freshman it’s great to be part of this team. When I feel pressure I just remember to have fun, don’t think too much and just play the game; I’m proud that we won the district championship and made the playoffs, and my hopes for the upcoming games are to win and be able to make it to state,” freshman Will Halata said.
The team has continued to build its success and prove that even after losing several players and gaining new ones this season, the team has continued to grow with determination that can still lead them to success.
“It feels good making it to the playoffs. We had a reset, because we had a lot of seniors graduating and we had a fresh team. I don’t really think there is a lot of pressure, it’s just like any other game. An achievement I’m most proud of is how many zone bases I have so far. My hope for the upcoming games is that we stay hot and keep going far from the playoffs,” senior Hudson Chenard said.
With strong leadership, hardworking players and confidence in one another, the Brahmas are prepared to continue their playoff journey and prove themselves in the field.
