The Lady Brahma softball girls’ season started early this year, with their first practice being held on Jan. 10. There is a lot of new talent this year with many freshmen stepping onto the field and many girls have jumped at the opportunity to join softball and will help the program grow with the loss of phenomenal talent. The head coach Callie Kresta, and two assistant coaches Carson Schindler and Jenson Schindler are confident about the possibility of this season.
“For the 2025 softball season, the Lady Brahmas are busy preparing for the first game of the season. We have 3 starters returning from last year, Macey Pustka, Hanna Zachary, and Grace Halata. As always with Lady Brahma softball the expectations are high,” Head Coach Callie Kresta expressed.
While a few new players are returning from last year as starters, many new players are stepping up and becoming more and more talented with each practice.
“My main goal would be to help develop girls that can step in and compete well when the district schedule starts. We have a lot of really talented players to replace from last year’s team,” assistant Coach Carson Schindler emphasizes. “We have some really outstanding players returning and I believe we have some young players that will work to develop and become varsity players that can contribute to our team’s success this season,”
The coaching staff is determined to help grow these girls’ mechanicals and fundamentals to have a successful season as a team.
“As coaches, we will have to help the girls grow to a point that we are ready for the district games through our preparation in practice and how we evolve as a team during our pre-district games and tournaments,” Schindler explains. “I know the girls will continue to work hard to maximize what we can accomplish as a team.”
With many practices and few non-district games, the Lady Brahma’s skills will improve and become a strong group to dominate in the season and set the tone for their district games.
“We are playing in 3 tournaments and 2 tough non-district games to help prepare us for our district opponents. Our goal is to have another deep playoff run and another return to the state tournament,” Coach Kresta highlighted.
Our Lady Brahma’s next district game is March 4 at 6 p.m. against Rice Consolidated.
