From Disney characters to classic monsters, the halls of Hallettsville High School were filled with costumes, candy and plenty of Halloween spooky cheer Friday as students celebrated the holiday with school spirit.
Students arrived at school styling outfits ranging from funny to fright-themed, showing off creativity and school pride. Many teachers joined in, showing encouragement and participating in many cute costume groups.
“I enjoyed seeing everyone in different costumes because I like people seeing people have a good time at school,” senior Peyton Pasak said.
While Halloween is rooted in spooky traditions, Friday’s campus atmosphere was playful and scary. You could hear laughter between classes as students posed for photos, traded compliments and admired each other’s outfits.
“My friend, Payton, and I dressed up at Bluey and Bingo because it represents the happiness and hope of all children around the world,” sophomore Abby Ressler said. “And we wanted to bring positivity to HHS.”
Staff members also participated, surprising students with nostalgic characters and funny group themes. In several classrooms, teachers offered candy or Halloween-themed treats as students enjoyed a lighter, more spirited school day.
For many, the celebration served as a break during a busy fall semester filled with tests, practices and college applications. Days like Halloween, students said, remind everyone that school can be both focused and fun.
“Being in STUCO, I wanted to contribute to the school spirit, and dress-up days like these give me something to look forward to during my busy fall semester,” Pasak said.

The day wrapped up with costume photos and plenty of memories that students say they’ll look back on long after graduation.
Whether decked out as a classic spooky ghost or a modern pop star, Hallettsville High students proved that school spirit is brightest when everyone has a chance to be a little silly and celebrate together.
