With over 200 young women at Hallettsville High School, hygiene products are always needed. High school members of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America at HHS started the project, Brahma Beauties. The project started by FCCLA students as part of a competition has made an impact on many female students at HHS. Brahma Beauties is a hygiene drive that provides products such as pads, tampons and hairbrushes in campus restrooms. The project started receiving donations in December 2025, and the project officially started in February and plans to run until May 22, 2026. The carts are located on opposite sides of campus, made accessible for students. The project aims to help female students in need of hygiene products or who may have forgotten what they need at home.
“It provided a lot of items needed throughout the day, and it made it safe for whoever to grab what they wanted without the embarrassing need of asking,” an anonymous student said.
Responses and feedback were received through an anonymous student survey that was built for feedback and constructive criticism. They were also used for students to request what they would like to see in the restrooms.
“They have been super helpful for when I forget to bring a tampon with me to school,” another anonymous female student said.
These carts are aimed to help students who forgot products, or may be struggling to obtain them. The carts are filled weekly by FCCLA students and are monitored to ensure that the products never run out.
“Though the items in the hygiene cart have not affected me personally, I can say that I have overheard many girls talking about how helpful it is to have it right in the bathroom,” an anonymous woman said.
Many students have reported being positively affected, and many are impacted throughout the campus. The carts aim to help students who may not have the products they need during the school day. Products such as Band-Aids and period kits are also provided to ensure students who may be running late to school have the items they need to get ready in the morning.
“They have impacted me in a positive way for sure. There have been times when I forgot something at home, but I can find it in the cart at school,” an anonymous student said.
Brahma Beauties aims to reduce the embarrassment of asking for products and help students, one hygiene product at a time.
