With the school season ending, many teens and teachers are looking for a money making opportunity. Sophomore Lyla Graham is spending her summer working at Splashway. She talks about why she applied and what her summer plans are.
“I definitely recommend ARTS, it was fun and you had a good amount of money for the time you worked,” Graham said. “I worked at a Stock barn, ARTS center, and now as a barista at Splashway.”
Sophomore Myah Mahon has not one, but two summer jobs. She talks about how she manages her time and the best jobs for teens. She worked at Splashway for 1 summer and Whataburger for 4 months. At splashway, Myah is a lifeguard, she works at the tops of slides sending riders down for an amazing ride.
“Get a job that you find fun, you won’t want to work if it’s not fun,” Mahon said. “I think it keeps you busy, and you learn responsibility.”
Junior Kennedy Walpole has worked at Splashway for four summers. She talks about why she got a summer job and if she would recommend one for others.
“I decided to get a summer job to have something to do over the summer and to meet new people, and it was the best decision that I’ve ever made,” Walpole said. “I would recommend a summer job if you aren’t too busy with many other plans throughout the summer.”
Not only students work at Splashway, teachers can spend their summer time there too. HHS teacher Kristen Jasek talks about her time making extra money until the next school year. Ms. Jasek has always had a summer job but recently she worked at Splashway, with her daughter, Reese Temple.
“I’ve always taught summer school, but Hallettsville doesn’t have that so I work at Splashway,” Jasek said. “I don’t make enough money to take 10 weeks off of work!”
Whether you’re looking to make some extra money, or fill in some free time this summer, getting a summer job is recommended all across HHS.
