Each day at Brahma Memorial Stadium, under the scorching Texas sun, the Hallettsville Brahma football team grinds away at gruelingly tough, physical and challenging practices.
“The kids are playing hard and are really running the football,” Athletic Director and head football coach, Levi Montgomery stated.
On the field this year, there are quite a few changes: including a new defense, new players, and returning players in new positions. “We’ve got Mycole Pegoda who is going to be playing the quarterback position. We are very excited because we are running a new offense that fits his strengths. We need a quarterback that’s tough and can really run the football and Mycole is that kind of guy.” Montgomery said.
The players are feeling confident about the new changes to their team this year and are eager to make this season a good time and have fun on the field.
“I think we’re pretty solid all around. We stay physical, we just need to stay on the grind and stay ready,” Senior Aiden Drozd said.
The players agree that practice has been physical and that the strain will play a huge role in preparing them for the upcoming season.
“We’ve been pretty physical, I’d say,” Junior Mycole Pegoda affirms, “and that’s been preparing us for all these games coming up.”
The team had two scrimmages on August 16 and 22 against Marion and Giddings. The Brahmas are now getting ready to face the Comanches for their first game of the season in Shiner, this Friday, August 30, at 7:30 p.m!
